On the eve of what I consider the last big game for the Dooley regime in the house that Peyton built, what is the biggest story? Is it the undefeated SEC West match-up of Bama and Mississippi State? Probably so. Not if you bleed orange.
This is the last chance for Coach Dooley. The rock has already been painted. The people have spoken. So for Dooley, this is it. Can you beat the Head Football Coach at home? All signs point to NO. Does it even matter?
If you're a blogger, chances are you spend a lot of time trolling the web, reading other people's opinions and developing your own based on fan bias and things you've read.
First things first. Vols fans: Gruden is not going to come to Tennessee. It's not going to happen. Even if it does, tell me the last successful NFL coach to come to a college team and be successful. It doesn't happen. Get over it.
How are you spending the perfect Friday night? I, myself, am watching the Cinci-Louisville game. Charlie Strong is not John Gruden. This is a real possibility for UT. A good coach. An SEC guy. And let's all be honest here, he's black. This is going to be a major recruiting tool for a major program. Ok, so is Joker. But come on! Kentucky?! This isn't basketball folks. It's Big Orange Football. And Kentucky is no major football program.
What I'm going to say next is going to sting to the Vol faithful: We need to be Tennessee. "Oh, well that wasn't so bad." Right? Wrong.
This Tennessee program has spent so much time trying to emulate success that we have yet to figure out how to create it. We don't need a Bama boy as AD. We don't need a Sabanite as head coach. We need to do things our way. The General did it his way. The General won.
Tennessee fans, quit trying to be Alabama. If anything, we should be shooting for Vanderbilt right now. And that is pathetic. But what the hell are you going to do? You see success, sit around and bitch about how bad we are. Your only solution is to steal their program. IDIOTS! If you are this kind of fan, seal up anything orange you own and go out and buy Crimson. You'll be much happier in the short term.
Let's find Tennessee football again. Let's make the Third Saturday in October a 365 days a year focus. The two best programs in the SEC going pound for pound.
Until Next Time
GO BIG ORANGE!
